*What Happens When We Don't Have Enough Water?*

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

(Excerpts from chapter 13 of "Feed Your Body Right" by Dr. Lendon
Smith, M.D. of television fame.)

*Water Intake Is Critical*
The amount of water taken in during an average day should be
about two to three liters. Imbibed water amounts to about one
to one and a half liters, and the rest comes from the water
contained in foods. (Vegetables are about 90 percent water.)

*Why Is Water So Necessary?*
Without water, there can be no life. Blood, lymph, digestive
juices, urine, sweat, and tears use water as a solvent to
transport nutrients. Water is needed to carry wastes out of
the body. Embryos and the brain are cushioned in a watery
environment. Sound and light waves are transmitted to eyes and
ears via watery media.

*Should We Drink More Water?*
Good health can be achieved only when the balance of water and
electrolytes is optimal. Electrolytes and water are lost
constantly via the kidney, sweat glands, and the intestines.
The body tries to correct imbalances but can only do so if
adequate amounts water, protein and the salts are ingested. If
one has low blood pressure, sodium will be absorbed at a faster
rate than the potassium. Potassium is absorbed more really than
sodium in those with high blood pressure. Drinking water is a
good idea, but fluids with electrolytes would be a better
replacement plan, especially during heavy exercise and hot weather.

*What Happens When We Don't Have Enough Water?*
Many people fail to respond to the sensation of thirst: the
dry mouth. If the total fluid in the body, blood, and extra
cellular compartments is not sufficient to carry the nutrients
to all the cells and return with the waste products, the
vascular system will respond with a generalized constriction of
the arterioles, venules, and capillaries.

*What Symptoms Appear When The Fluid level Is Low?*
The body is smart enough to maintain the blood supply to the
lungs, the heart, the liver, and the kidneys to maintain life.
Then one notices cold hands and feet. When the fluid level is
down as indicated by the constricted veins in the arms, legs,
and head, the victim tires easily due to lack of oxygen in the
system. He is more likely to have headaches. It is the
beginning of other diseases, the result of poor circulation.
Tension in the shoulders and neck is a good example of this.
Picture a plastic jug, partially filled with water. If you
squeeze the sides of the jug, the water level rises. This is
what happens in your body when veins constrict to compensate
for lack of fluid. This also explains why you might feel dizzy
when you arise too rapidly. There is not enough blood
circulating to your head and your sense of balance is off.

*Should You Drink More Water?*
While we need water, it should not be too much or we will wash
out the good things along with the garbage.

*Editor's Note:*
If you think you fit into this category and are ready to try
drinking more water, let me make a suggestion. Buy a quart
size bottle and every morning fill it with a quart of water.
Then drink only from that. That way you will have an idea of
how much water you are drinking.
If you are not sure if you need more water the next issue
will share ideas on some tests you can do on yourself to
test the level of your fluids.

This is the letter I promised you concerning the success that
our football team has encountered as users of Noni Juice.

On January 19, 1997 our full contact flag football team was
crowned the 1997 National Champions after 2 days playing 6
games of "full contact" flag football.... Many of the players
on my team are already very good friends and knew that I was
taking 2 ounces a day of noni, but didn't try it until the
whole team decided to work out with my training schedule and
diet plan for the month before the tournament. We ended up
winning the National Championship title in a league that has
over 1,000,000 members and 10,000 leagues nationwide and in
Canada. This year having 14 of our 17 players on noni we came
out with the National Championship trophy and only lost 2
players to injury during the tournament and you guessed it that
they were 2 of the 3 that did not join the Noni club training schedule.
