Smell Your Way to Health
(from Chapter 8 of "Feed Your Body Right" by Dr. Lendon Smith)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You can tell whether you have an excess or a deficiency of a
vitamin or mineral by smelling it.
*What Do We Smell?*
Dr. Smith's clients as part of their nutritional program
smell 18 bottles. Each bottle contains only one substance.
They are vitamin A, Vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6
(Pyridoxine), Vitamin B12 , vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E,
Biotin, Choline, Calcium, Folic Acid, Betaine Hydrochloride,
Iron, Magnesium, Vitamin B12, Paraminobenzoic Acid, and Ammonium Chloride.
*How Do We Rate Each Substance?*
Every item will have a smell to it. Dr. Smith rates them on a
scale of from 1 to 10
1 is sweet; it really smells good
2 is good and mildly sweet
3 is no smell, as if the bottle is empty
4 is a slight odor, not particularly good or bad
5 is a borderline odor, but is not bad
6 is slightly offensive
7 is a definite turnoff, most wrinkle their noses at this
8 is pretty bad
9 is very offensive
10 is a real stink; it is called pukey. Nauseating
*What Does The Smell Mean?*
If any one of the substances has a bad or disgusting
odor.....it means that the person got enough from his food that
day, or his body has it naturally. The smeller is not to take
it - at least that day. Example: if I have eaten some milk,
cheese or ice cream on Monday, Tuesday the bottle with the
calcium smells like used kitty litter, a definite 9. By
Thursday without dairy products, the calcium score will move
down to a 3 or 4 and I will need it again. It is interesting
that many people who crave milk and drink more than a quart a
day still find the calcium smells good. it suggests that they
are not able to absorb the calcium from the milk; their
sensitivity to milk impairs the absorption of the calcium.
*Can You Give Us An Example Of How This Might Help Us?*
One of the bottles in the program contains pills of the
acidifier, Ammonium Chloride, the salt of a weak base and a
strong acid. It comes as a 7 1/2 grain tablet. If a person
is alkaline, he usually loves the smell of it. When Dr.
Smith's wife, Julie says it smells like vanilla, he gives her
two or three of them. In about thirty minutes when she smells
it again, it has a bad, sickening smell to her. She has had
enough for the time being. Sometimes he will waken her at
midnight and have her smell the Ammonium Chloride. She usually
says, "I don't smell anything." So he gives her two of them.
If she doesn't take them she is likely to waken at 3 a.m. with
a terrible muscle cramp in her calf. ..The acidifier makes the
calcium soluble enough to allow muscles to relax.
*If a Substance Smells Good Does It Mean I Have A Deficiency?*
Many people like the smell of a particular vitamin or mineral
and yet they have no symptoms suggesting a deficiency. It
suggests, however, that some problem is on its way. You can
launch--in an amateurish way--your own program.
*Why Not Just Take A Regular Vitamin Pill With All The Vitamins?*
Dr. Smith tells about one of his clients who had a problem with
depression. When she took the B vitamins as a complex they
worked for a while to lift the depression and then stopped
working. Then they tried having her smell and take only those
that her sense of smell indicated she needed. They found out
she only needed certain of the B vitamins. When she got those
her depression lifted. Actually taking one of the B vitamins
was making her depressed. There are many of us who are taking
too much of one vitamin or mineral and not enough of the others.
*What Is The Plus Side Of Taking Individual Vitamin and Minerals?*
This subjective method of determining what one needs by using
the sense of smell means that one never over- or under-doses.
The nose is a surveillance mechanism to alert the body that
something good or bad is about to enter.
Editor's Note: In the next several issues I will share with
you the various deficiency symptoms and signs that indicate a
certain vitamin or mineral is lacking in your body. That will
assist you in determining which of the substances you need.
You can then go to the health food stores and buy separate
bottles of those items. (If you can't find a particular item in
the health food store, go to Dr. Smith's web site.
http://www.lifebalancesintl.com)
You can take the indicated amounts--usually one pill each
day--and see if you feel any better in a month or six weeks.
Remember, you are guessing about your needs, but it is an
educated guess, and even borders on science.

There are many physicians who are recommending Noni Juice to
their patients. One of these is Dr. Bloss. Dr. Bloss is an
orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of
Orthopedic Surgery. He graduated cum laude in pre-med from
Georgetown College in Kentucky and received his medical degree
from the University of Louisville. Dr. Bloss served as the team
physician for a number of sports teams in Indiana. He has had a
surgical practice in Evansville, Indiana, for thirty-four years.
The following is his testimony.
Although I primarily practice conservative orthopedics, I am
heavily involved in research on arthritis. My brother developed
rheumatoid arthritis in college, so I am always interested in
any new information on the subject.....
Before I used noni juice in my practice, I tried it myself and
had a lot of personal success with it. I used to be unable to
sleep on my stomach because of back pain. Noni has also
increased my energy level. My opponents on the tennis court
have noticed that my reaction time is much faster.
Since then I have used noni juice on seventy of my patients.
Fifteen of my patients with chronic back pain found that noni
completely relieved their pain. Eight other patients had knee
pain from osteoarthritis until noni made their pain virtually
disappear. Several of my patients with type II diabetes lowered
their blood sugar with noni juice.
One diabetic patient with chronic back pain found that for the
first time in fifteen years, he could bend over and pick up
balls on the tennis court. He could also golf again without
always being laid up afterward. The other day he told me that
he'd had a case of Bell's palsy. His family physician had told
him he'd be laid up for six weeks with a patch on his swollen
eye, but he doubled the amount of noni juice he was taking and
in three days all his symptoms were gone.
Three of my asthma patients experienced dramatic improvements
in their asthma coughs after using noni.
I've been especially aware of the improvements in the lives of
my arthritis patients. Many of them have had significant
results. Two people, including a patient and a physician, have
called to say that noni took away the stiffness in their hands
within twenty-four hours.
Noni juice has been very effective for the majority of my
patients. I offer it as a food supplement, Not as a drug, and
most of them choose using it. Noni juice has improved not only
my life, but the lives of many of my patients.
