Our Environment Can Make Us Sick - Part One
(The contents of this newsletter is taken from notes Dr. Lendon
Smith has taken from his readings in the field of alternative health.)
El or Environmental Medicine seems to have answers to many
symptoms and diseases that are growing in incidence, from Chronic
Fatigue to cancer. Here is a little overview of the ideas of one
of the most respected doctors of Medicine, Dr. William Rea, M.D.
the director of the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas.
*What in the Environment Can Make Us Sick?*
Dr. Rea has found that the total load of all the environmental
stressors include: heat, cold, electrical energy, pesticides,
lead, cadmium, and biological insults from bacteria, viruses, and
fungi. He states the following. No lead was found in the bones
of those Romans living at about 1 AD. In 1943 32 billion pounds
were released into the air. In 1978 it was 430 billion pounds,
and in 1990 it was one trillion pounds. A little less now that
lead is out of gas and out of paints. Some natural terpenes from
trees account for some pollution. Algae is present all year
round. Inside air has petroleum products from gas and oil burning
stoves and furnaces. Pesticides, foam and formaldehyde out-gassing.
*How Much Are We Exposed To These Environmental Pollutants?*
In our food: we all consume about 1 gallon pollutants per year
and this accounts for many sensitivities. Even bathing in
chlorinated water can have an effect - even worse than drinking
it. The T lymphocytes, so important for immunity are affected.
Anesthesia, like chloroform, and related drugs get in the system
and are stored in the fat. Stress releases adrenaline, and that
dissolves the fat and the toxins are released. 100 percent of
people are sensitive to toluene, and 69% to phenols. The
pollutant damage is mainly to the cell membrane. This hurts the
sodium pump, with the consequent edema.
Dr. Doris Rapp, M.D. a board certified in pediatrics and
pediatrric allergy learned about environmental medicine in 1975.
She noted that the schools are full of poisons as the air does
not come from the outside. Each room at home and school could be
at fault. She demonstrated changes in writing associated with
exposure to allergens. (Editor's note: In a doctor's office
where people were being tested for environmental allergies I
witnessed a child become hyperative after exposure to a ball
point pen ink, and a female start screaming after exposure to saccharin.)
If a person is environmentally sensitive what does that tell us about them?
That will be the subject of the next issue.

* How many natural nutritional products do you know of that are
supported by scientific research?*
Below are just a few of the research studies that have shown
Noni juice to be a powerful assist to good health.
1 In a report to the 83rd Annual Meeting of the American
Association for Cancer Research, in May 1992, the Morinda citrifolia fruit was
shown to significantly prolong the life of mice which had been
implanted with Lewis lung carcinoma cells. The research theorized
that the compounds within the Noni juice have the ability to
stimulate the activity of T-Cells within the immune system. The
immune system response may be the key to understanding why the
juice has been used for centuries for such a wide variety of health challenges.
2 Dr. Ralph Heinicke pioneered the study of the alkaloid
Xeronine, which is abundant in the Morinda citrifolia fruit. Dr. Heinicke's
work has lead to the understanding of why Noni has such a
tremendous impact on the human body. The compounds in Noni
actually work at the cellular level to cause cell regeneration and increase cell function.
3 In separate studies, Noni was shown to have a more
significant impact on arresting the growth of implanted Cancerous
RAS cells on lab animals when compared with 500 other medicinal
plant compounds. It was also shown to:
* Have a noted analgesic effect
* Be effective against 7 different kinds of harmful bacteria
* Be a natural antiseptic
* Be effective against fungus and parasites
