*Are You Eating Enough Salmon?*
(The content is taken from Dr. Lendon Smith's readings of
Charles Bates, Ph.D., Essential Fatty Acids and Immunity in Mental Health, 1987)
*What can a lack of salmon do to us?*
Eastern Washington Native American tribes, previously heavy
salmon eaters, went off their native diets when Columbia River
dams decimated the salmon runs. They now have schizophrenia
prevalence double the North American average. They also have
high rates of arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, migraine, obesity, and depression.
*What Other Groups of People Have This Problem?*
Dr. Bates reported high rates of schizophrenia in Celtic Ireland,
with 12/1000 population. Those Irish were heavy salmon eaters
several hundred years ago until salmon became scarce. Some
Irish are lacking in the EFA enzyme, as are Eskimos, Welsh,
Scots, and Scandinavians. These groups have statistically high
levels of depression, alcoholism, Crohn's disease, cystic
fibrosis, and schizophrenia. They should return to the foods of their ancestors.
*What Else Can Cause an EFA deficiency?*
Another group of depressed patients were found to have EFA
deficiency because of an inherited enzyme underfunctioning. This
is most common among Northern coastal ethnic groups, in Europe
and America. Many generations of these people ate salmon and
other seafoods which supply ample essential fatty acids. Over
time their enzyme activity decreased from disuse, reflecting
decreased need, but they remained healthy on their native diet.

*Noni Juice Activates Dormant Enzymes*
The fruit of the Morinda citrifolia tree has been used for centuries as a food source.
Early Polynesians recognized its pure value and consumed it in times of
famine. During World War II, soldiers based on tropical Polynesian islands
were taught by the native Polynesian people to eat the Morinda citrifolia fruit to sustain
their strength. The fruit became a staple food choice for the people of
Raratonga, Samoa, and Fiji, who ate the fruit raw or cooked.
Noni has been prized in Polynesia for centuries but has never
found its way to the western market until now.
