*More on asthma*
I found even though I don't have asthma that much of what Dr. Smith has to say about it is also my problem. The only difference is that another part of my body is weaker so my health problem shows up in that area rather than in my lungs.

One of our subscribers emailed in a very technical explanation for why asthma occurs. Since I do not have a technical mind it went right over my head. But I present it later in this issue for those of you who can benefit from it.

*Dr. Lendon Smith's Experience with Asthma - Part 2*
(This is a continuation of last week's issue on asthma. Content is taken from Dr. Smith's writings)

What about Kids who have Asthma?
Studies have been done with children, and several things show up,
1) they should be able to eat a food and be able to deal with it
particularly when they are young. There is a large percentage of
children in a study that shows --75 to 80%-- have below normal
stomach acid. I will make it larger than that - we are looking at
a decrease, a suppression perhaps, not a lack of but a
suppression of the digestive capacity. They are not breaking it
down as well as not absorbing. So 1) they could have nutritional
deficiencies and we see that's true; and 2) we see that their
foods are not being broken down, therefore giving them a much
more greater chance of being exposed to longer chain complex
molecules that look like a foreign invader triggering an allergic response.

*What Is An Allergic Reaction?*
I'm going to give you a concept here that has not been fully
elucidated to the world. This is it. An allergic reaction if
instigated by undigested food is the immune system attacking this
food as a foreign object. It is the immune system finishing the
job of digestion that a competent digestive tract should have
done. And so by having these continual exposures, we deplete the
immune system, blame it on hypersensitivity and actually
complicate the problem. If we go back to correcting the digestive
compromise perhaps the colon will become less permeable and allow
us to eliminate or certainly moderate this event.

*How would you Correct the Digestive System?*
By using some of the digestive enzymes, whether that is
animal-based with hydrochloric acid and papain, pepsin, and
pancreatic enzymes, which are in many cases are warranted. Or,
using the plant-derived enzymes. Papaya seed? No, they work at
temperatures much higher than the human body. I use the ones
derived from astragalus nigra If you took these enzymes out of
the capsule and put them in a bowl of oatmeal stir it up, 1 - 12
mins later, that's a soup. When you give this to kids or adults.
They don't stay as full in the stomach and they digest their food
better, they have more energy, they don't fall asleep after
meals, and allergic reactions go down. If weight gain is what
they needed, you will see them normalize, if weight loss is what
was indicated, you often see them normalize.

This is key -- low stomach acid...........it's very clear in kids and adults.
There's a lot that people can do. They don't have to live with asthma.

*Shameless Promotion By Our Sponsor: Sunrise International:
Distributors of
Noni juice Product Systems*

I have been taking the Noni Weight Management products now for
over a month with great results. My favorite product is the
protein wafers. I used to eat peanuts between meals to keep my
blood sugar levels stable. Now I take the protein wafers and they
do the same thing. The difference is I now can lose weight. I
have lost 6 pounds and the only other thing in my diet that I
have changed is to cut back to one slice of bread a day.

My husband in addition to taking the protein wafers also takes
the fiber product whenever he feels hungry. It does the trick
for him. He has lost 12 pounds. (Yes he had further to go.)

Re: Dr Smith's comments on asthma. He states that histamine is a causative
agent in asthma. Histamine although released by mast cells in an asthmatic
attack is not as important vasodilator and bronchoconstroctor as some other
mediators of inflammation, namely leukotrienes. The newest conventional
medications for asthma are leukotriene antagonists. Antihistamines are not
commonly used in asthma control being in most cases inactive. They are
however very important in the treatment of anaphyllaxis where istamine is
the main bronchoconstrictor and vasodilator.
