*** Are You Concerned About Alzheimer’s? ***
from the notes of by Dr. Lendon Smith, M.D.

Dr. Smith had a chance to review the book by Dr. H. Richard Casodorph an Dr. Morton Walker. called Toxic Metal Syndrome: How Metal Poisoning can Affect Your Brain. (Avery Pub. Group, Garden City, NY, 1995) The authors went into depth about Alzheimer’s dementia.

* Who gets Alzheimer’s? * The teaching we got in medical school was Alzheimer’s disease was pre-senile dementia, as the two patients he described about 100 years ago were about 45 to 50 years old. I felt that if I could once get to age sixty or so and was mentally intact, I would not get it, as I would not be in the age group that is susceptible.

* Will we get it if we are past the age of 50? * Now I find they have changed the ground-rules. The authors tell us that fifty percent of people in the Western world over age eighty-five will be hit with this dementia, this loss of mental ability. I am sure my wife sees it in me, just as I see the telltale signs in her. (I’m 75; she is 71.) It is now called “Dementia of the Alzheimer’s Type.” (DAT). The rate doubles every five years.

* What causes Alzheimer’s? * We pediatricians knew in the early 1950’s that infusions of BAL could lower the lead load in those kids eating paint chips. We got the government to control the lead in the environment. But there was still cadmium in cigarette paper, arsenic in paint, and aluminum in foods, antacids, pots, and baking powders. (The aluminum industry does not quite agree that it is connected with dementia, but how does the aluminum get into the brain?) Even iron can be toxic in those of us who are susceptible to overloads. There is mercury in the teeth of millions of people but the American Dental Association says if you don’t chew too vigorously, it won’t bother you.

Yikes! I’m afraid to eat, drink, or inhale.

In the next issue we will tell what is being recommended for Alzheimer's in the alternative health field.

** Will Noni Juice help Alzheimer's? **

Well we do know Noni Juice flushes toxins out of the body. So my common sense tells me that either directly or indirectly it is sure to help. I've been taking it for two years now and since my energy level continues to increase I wouldn't think of doing without it. In order for this to happen Noni Juice has got to be flushing something out of my body as it regenerates my cells. Since I prayed for years for an answer to my fatigue problem I thank God every day for Noni.
