*** Some history on ADHD - Hyperactivity *** by Dr. Lendon Smith, M.D.
(taken from a column of Dr. Smith's in Let's Live magazine.)

Dear Dr. Smith

I know you have written about hyper children with the ADHD syndrome, but I guess I need some support. My pediatrician, who has a good reputation in my town, feels that changing my son’s diet has not proven to do anything for the problem. He is sure that Ritalin will help him adjust to the discipline of school and if he is rewarded for good behavior on the drug, he will learn compliance and get a good self-image at the same time. I am frightened by the use of drugs except some aspirin for a headache occasionally. Can you help me? Sincerely, your friend

Dear Friend, I am glad you asked. Here is a little history about hyper kids.

I took a course from Dr. Charles Bradley, a pediatric neurologist, in 1947. He was the one who first discovered the paradoxical effect of stimulant drugs on hyper kids. He was running a home for oddball children in the 1930s. They had a wild and crazy girl who needed something to quiet her. The doctor told the nurse to give her some bromide. She made a mistake and the girl got 10 mg of Benzedrine from a nearby bottle. The girl went to sleep. The doctor told the nurse, “The bromide works.” The nurse said, “What did you say?”

“What did you give her?” Oops. The nurse made out an accident report. They could not believe that a stimulant could put someone away like that. They tried it the next day, and sure enough, the girl went off to la-Ia land. He wrote a paper on it and it was published, if memory serves, in The Journal of Disease of Children for 1938 or thereabouts. That started the whole paradigm about therapy for hyper children. His findings were that most of the children he saw who fit the criteria of short attention span, excess activity, and inattention had had some hurt to their nervous system at birth: prematurity, cord about neck, excess bilirubin, second of twins, or collapsed lung. We have all seen those, but most of the children we are seeing now and have for the past 4O years had little of those insults.

It is now attributed to sensitivities to food, such as milk allergy, low magnesium and calcium, low B6, low zinc, and low omega-3 fatty acids. Every hair test that I have done on these children shows low calcium (despite a large milk intake; they do not absorb the calcium from the milk because the intestines reject it), and low magnesium.

Noni juice has done it again!

The following testimony can be read in its' entirety at page 2 of http://www.iwr.com/noni-juice/

I have been a type one diabetic since I was a teenager. I started taking Noni Juice Saturday, September 14, 1996. Almost immediately I felt I had more energy. I was sleeping less at night, my sleep was more restful and I had more energy during the day. I had not experienced a temperature or touch sensation in my feet for more than 15 years because of neuropathy. After taking Noni Juice for three days I felt the coldness in my feet and I could also feel the carpet and tile floors in my home. .. I have had arthritis in my hands for the past few years, which has been getting worse. Since taking Noni the swelling in my fingers has gone down and the redness around my joints has disappeared. I am not experiencing pain from the arthritis and I can even open jars again......

The other thing I do on a regular basis is take my blood pressure. Because I have high blood pressure I have been on medication for a number of years. The first part of November I noticed my blood pressure was getting too low (98/56) and I was getting lightheaded. I decided to stop taking one of my blood pressure medications, Procardia. Within a few weeks my blood pressure was still too low. I stopped taking all my blood pressure medication. Now my blood pressure readings are 120/78.

The only thing I am doing differently is drinking Noni Juice. I am excited to be feeling so much better and I am thankful to the people that introduced me to Noni Juice.
